So for the past couple of weeks, our pastor has been speaking on “What’s in Your Hand?”
Here’s the lowdown…our church has acquired property…permanent property. It’s all very exciting! We are going to remodel to meet our needs and will still end up with more space than we have in our current, temporary location.
All of that costs money though. I wish I could remember all the details, but I think the project price will come in somewhere around 1.5million dollars… most of which the Lord has provided for in miraculous ways! Part of which is a matching grant, or loan or something along that order… all we have to come up with is $150,000.
Which brings me back to our pastor’s speaking on “What’s in Your Hand?” He rarely speaks on money, even though the bible has over 2000 verses on it. One night when our pastor was dreaming of ways he could help, he felt the Lord asking, “What do you have in your hands? What can you sell that would supply you with a gift to give?”
So as our pastor was speaking, I started thinking, “What about me?” I had already allocated all of our excess stuff to a friend who is adopting children from Liberia, so that was out. My plate is full, so taking on another job is out and anything that would take me away from home would not work.
Then I thought about my sketches. I love to draw and I have everything I need to do it. I checked online and an original piece of art can fetch a pretty penny. I even have an avenue to spread the word that I am doing this… my blog, facebook, my readers and hopefully their readers. So what am I waiting for and just what is it exactly that I am doing?
I will be offering ALL of the proceeds from 20 sketches (8x8” finished size; $50/sketch) to The Water’s church for the building fund. I will take orders until June 14th, and plan to deliver on or before August 31st. The sketches I do are from your photographs, and are usually portraits, however we can discuss other options.
Here is a photograph and the sketch created:
My friend’s husband and I recently conspired on that one.
I will try to get a few more examples up this week.
If you are interested in commissioning a sketch, please email me using the link below my picture (at the top of the left column).
If you are willing to help spread the word about this project, please grab a button and tell your friends!
