I have been reading Ann Voskamp’s book, One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are. I am only on Chapter Two, but am so inspired by the living of Eucharisteo. Eucharisteo means thanksgiving.
Funny that. Years ago when I set up this particular blog, that was my intention. To find three things a day to be thankful for. Sounds easy enough. Well, it’s been almost three years, since my last post on Simply Thankful.
As with anything that you set out to do that gives glory to the Lord, you are bound to face some opposition. Part of my opposition was my own perfectionism. I wanted each item I posted out here that I was thankful for to be profound and expound upon it. There were other contributing factors, to be sure, but the main one was the perfectionism.
After reading the book, up to chapter two, ahem… I find that it can be as simple as being thankful for a cup of coffee, a kiss on the cheek, sunshine on my shoulders. Simply simple. You would think I would have figured that one out on my own. Also I like the format of a numbered list. It falls right in line with counting blessings, which Bing Crosby croons about falling asleep while doing…so it’s gotta be a good thing.
Anyhow, that is how I will do it. A list. Increasing with each post. Hopefully consistently. Perhaps daily. Always simply and thankfully.
I welcome you to follow along. Should you choose to do so as well, feel free to let me know and I can start a blog roll to the left.
If you haven’t had a chance to read Ann Voskamp’s, One Thousand Gifts, I highly recommend it and I haven’t even finished it yet!
